The Support Index

A listing can exist without every claim being endorsed.

Every resource profile shows source-review information. When an intervention or treatment claim needs evidence context, we label that separately.

We do not collapse these into one judgment.

Is the listing verifiable?

We check public sources for the organization, professional role, service, location, and other published details.

Is inclusion an endorsement?

No. Inclusion means a resource can be discovered in the index; it does not certify quality, outcomes, or every claim.

What does the evidence say?

When a specific medical, therapeutic, or communication intervention requires context, we evaluate that claim separately.

Evidence status at a glance.

Established / Evidence Supported

Supported by a substantial body of peer-reviewed research and consistent with relevant professional guidance.

Emerging Evidence

Research exists, but the evidence base is still developing, limited in scope, or not yet consistently replicated.

Limited Evidence

Little high-quality published research is available, or existing studies are preliminary or methodologically limited.

Contested

Significant disagreement exists among researchers, clinicians, or professional organizations.

Not FDA-Approved for This Use

A device, product, drug, or treatment is not FDA-approved or cleared for the specific use being described.

Not Recommended by Major Professional Organizations

One or more major professional organizations advise against the approach or use based on available evidence or documented concerns.

Primary sources first.

Different facts require different kinds of evidence. We try to use the source closest to the claim being checked.

Provider & service details

Official provider, organization, hospital, school, or government pages.

Credentials

Licensing boards, NPI/provider directories, employers, or recognized professional directories where appropriate.

Treatment evidence

Peer-reviewed research, systematic reviews, clinical guidance, and professional organizations.

Regulatory status

FDA or other relevant government regulatory sources when applicable.

Credentials are not treatment evidence.

A physician, therapist, advocate, attorney, or certified practitioner can have a real and verifiable professional role while also offering an intervention whose evidence is limited, disputed, or not recommended. The profile should show both facts rather than using one to prove the other.

Every published profile is dated.

The date shows when its public source information was last reviewed.

Changes can be reported.

Visitors can flag outdated details so a listing can be reviewed again.

Information is not advice.

The Support Index does not replace medical, legal, educational, or other individualized professional advice.
